APP wins 314 out of 319 Councillorship seats in Rivers LG elections

After securing an astounding 314 of the 319 council seats up for grabs in the 23 local government areas of Rivers State, the Action Peoples Party (APP) has become a major player in the state’s local elections.

At a news conference held in Port Harcourt on Sunday, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), revealed the findings.

The official results show that the All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Young People’s Party (YPP) each won one seat, with the APP claiming victory in 314 wards.

The APP has garnered tremendous support throughout the state, as seen by this noteworthy victory.

The results also put to rest any doubts about the APC’s participation in the October 5th local government elections. Prior to the elections, the party’s caretaker committee chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, had suggested that the APC would not partake, raising concerns among party loyalists.

However, the election results confirm that the APC did indeed contest, albeit with limited success.

Notably, Chief Emeka Beke, the factional chairman of the Rivers APC, had previously asserted the party’s readiness for the elections, stating, â€œAs the authentic chairman of APC in Rivers State, we are fully prepared for the election.”
