A 23-year-old Nigerian man, currently in his 400-level at a Nigerian university, has expressed his heartbreak after discovering that his girlfriend of one year and three months, whom he had dreamed of spending his life with, cheated on him with her classmate.

The emotional confession was shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where the man detailed his experience.

In his anonymous post, he explained that he had been supportive of his girlfriend, even helping her when she faced academic challenges.

The girlfriend, originally in a different university, had transferred to his school and department due to difficulties she encountered, despite being expected to be in the same academic level as him.

The man, who had pushed his girlfriend to succeed despite her academic struggles, revealed his deep disappointment that she had betrayed his trust.

In a lengthy text, he vented his emotions:

“I just caught my girlfriend of one year and three months cheating on me with her classmate. This is a girl I’ve dreamed of spending the rest of my life with, believing she was a saint throughout our relationship.”

“I’m 23 years old, and despite peer pressure to engage in fraudulent activities, I’ve always refused. My dad often tells me, ‘There’s a way that seems right to a man, but the end is always a big gbese’ before ending our phone calls.”

“I’m in my 400-level, and she’s in 100-level. She was supposed to be in the same year as me, but due to issues in her previous university, I helped her transfer to my school, in the same department. I pushed her academically, as I’m one of the top students, though not to brag. She’s not as academically strong, but I supported her, because I love her.”

“I’ve been following your teachings since the ASUU strike eight months ago, and I’ve been applying them. I thought I was leading her in the right direction, never using money to guide the relationship as you suggested. But this betrayal has hit me hard.”
