Rufai Oseni Faults Tinubuรขs Media Chat (Video)
Renowned on-air personality, Rufai Oseni, has expressed disappointment over President Bola Tinubuรขs recent media chat, asserting that the President lacks a รขtotal graspรข of the challenges facing Nigerians, News360 Nigeria reports.
Speaking on The Morning Show the day after the Lagos media chat, Oseni criticized Tinubu for failing to engage directly with Nigerians earlier during his administration.
Rufai stated, รขIt took the President 18 months to address Nigerians, despite implementing policies that have negatively impacted the country. After that media chat, I am more concerned for Nigeria. President Tinubu disappointed me. He does not have a full understanding of the issues.รข
รขWhen asked about the subsidy removal, he claimed there was no alternative. He seemed to forget that the NNPC was still paying subsidies at the beginning of the year. He also forgot that his advisors warned against removing subsidies immediately upon taking office. He failed to acknowledge the inflation and currency devaluation that followed the subsidy removal. He did not address the devaluation of the currency or many other important questions.รข
รขWhen questioned about combating inflation, he mentioned improving agriculture production. However, he seemed to forget his previous promise to cultivate 10 million hectares. Despite some improvements in agriculture earlier this year, food prices remain high. His proposed softer agricultural laws seem vague and lack concrete plans.รข
Mr. Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023, and has implemented stringent economic policies that have led to the worst cost-of-living crisis in Nigeria in years. These policies include canceling petrol subsidies, floating the naira, and increasing electricity tariffs.
