Women call out Tinubu over tough economy as bride price becomes unaffordable

One of the women shared her frustration, noting how challenging it has become to make ends meet.

She mentioned that men are now unable to marry because they lack the financial means to pay the bride price.

Her statement read: “When you’re quiet, it may seem like you’re fine, but we’re suffering in silence. We need change. We’re tired; please do something.”

She continued, “No place is safe anymoreâ€"you could be kidnapped in your own home. How can a liter of fuel cost #1,000? I feel for taxi drivers, Bolt, and Indrive operatorsâ€"it’s tough for them.”

The woman also lamented the rising cost of living, stating, “I can’t believe I’m paying #2,500 for ‘mama put.’ How can I afford a plate of food for #2,500? We’re exhausted. Even women aren’t getting married anymore because men can’t afford to pay the bride price.”
