Anthony Joshua is not a real Nigerian â" Heavyweight boxer Efe Ajagba

Nigerian heavyweight boxer, Efe Ajagba has stirred controversy by claiming that Anthony Joshua should not be considered a true Nigerian.
Ajagba made the remarks following his dramatic majority draw against Congolese contender Martin Bakole at the ANB Arena in Riyadh this week.
When The Ring suggested that Joshua might also be in contention among top fighters, the 30-year-old Ajagbaâ"whose only professional loss came at the hands of Frank Sánchez in 2021, dismissed the idea, questioning Joshuaâs connection to Nigeria.
âOh man,â Ajagba said. âI donât think so. Heâs not a real Nigerian. He might have just been there, and thatâs where his parents came from, but for me, Iâm the original Nigerian, to be honest. Not Joshuaâ"he hasn’t experienced Nigeria. Almost all of his life has been spent in the UK.â
Ajagba accused Joshua of only visiting Nigeria for âsocial media content.â
âItâs okay, itâs all goodâ"but Iâm the original Nigerian,â he added. âIn Africa, Nigeria is always No. 1 when it comes to sport, and Iâm the original Nigerian. Thatâs what itâs all aboutâ"Iâve got power, and Iâve got skills.â
