Governor Eno awarded best governor of the year 2025

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has been named the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) Governor of the Year for 2025.

The award recognizes his outstanding leadership, transparency, and achievements under the state’s ARISE Agenda.

The presentation took place during the public unveiling of the Socio-Economic Impact Assessment of the ARISE Agenda in Two Years. The event was held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, on Thursday.

Representing the NGF Director-General, Alhaji Abdullateef Shittu, Prof. Abba Gambo praised Governor Eno’s governance style.

He highlighted Akwa Ibom’s top ranking in governance, fiscal responsibility, and development delivery compared to other states.

“In a State-by-State comparative analysis, Akwa Ibom came out top,” he said, before formally presenting the award.

The NGF also commended Governor Eno for completing and advancing several projects across multiple sectors without resorting to bank loans or external borrowingâ€"an uncommon accomplishment given Nigeria’s challenging economic situation.

Governor Eno dedicated the award to the people of Akwa Ibom and reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparent, people-centered governance.

He expressed gratitude to the NGF and emphasized that the administration’s success is rooted in prudent management of resources, institutional reforms, and a clear development plan guided by the ARISE Agenda.

He said, “This recognition is both humbling and encouraging. We will continue to use the resources of Akwa Ibom State to work for Akwa Ibom peopleâ€"building infrastructure, empowering communities, and shaping a more prosperous future.”

The event also featured policy reviews, expert presentations, and assessments of the state’s development over the last two years.

Federal government officials, ministers, economic experts, development partners, civil society representatives, and journalists attended, many praising the state for its openness and willingness to subject its progress to independent evaluation.
