Official: Jorrel Hato joins Chelsea in £38m deal from Ajax
Chelsea have officially signed highly rated Ajax defender Jorrel Hato for a reported £38 million, marking the club’s seventh signing under manager Enzo Maresca.
The 19-year-old Dutch international joins on a long-term contract running until 2032, following weeks of negotiations.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Ajax will receive €43 million (£37.5m) for the transfer.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, Hato said:
“I’m very excited, I’m so happy to be here. I thought a lot about my future and wanted to take the next step in my career. Chelsea is the best place for me to do that so I’m very happy.”
Hato, known for his composure and tactical awareness across the backline, is expected to be a key part of Chelsea’s defensive setup next season.
