Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has disclosed that he will be taking a short break from public engagements following medical advice to rest.
In a post shared on his official X account on Saturday, the ex-governor of Anambra State explained that he began to feel unwell while attending an event in Enugu.
After consulting his doctor, he was placed on medication and instructed to take a day or two off.
“Based on the doctor’s recommendation, I will not be able to attend my scheduled events within and outside Nigeria this weekend. I deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause and kindly seek your understanding,†Obi stated.
He also reflected on his activities prior to the health issue, which included attending a tourism program in Enugu before visiting Good Hope Specialist Hospital in Isulo, Orumba South LGA of Anambra State. There, he donated ₦10 million to support the Aguata Diocese of the Church of Nigeria in acquiring and upgrading the hospital.
Obi praised the Diocese’s initiative to expand the hospital into a full-fledged medical complex with a School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Technology, describing healthcare investment as one of the most valuable contributions to national development.
After his visit to Isulo, he proceeded to Owerri, Imo State, where he attended a dinner hosted by Barrister Nnaemeka Maduagwu in honour of former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
