Man follows girlfriend to university out of love, ends up watching her date a 400L student instead
A Nigerian student has stirred emotional reactions online after revealing that he chose his university because of his girlfriend, only to find out she is now dating another student.
In a viral post shared on social media, the young man confessed that he picked the same university while in SS3, hoping to continue his relationship after secondary school.
“I picked this school because my girlfriend was coming here,†he said. “At first, I thought I wouldn’t get admission, but I did. Now she has a boyfriend in 400 level, and I’m just here focusing on my education.â€
The emotional tone of his post reflected his frustration and heartbreak, with many sympathising with his experience of youthful love and betrayal. Some users, however, saw it as a life lesson in prioritising one̢۪s future over emotions.

The story has since attracted hundreds of comments, with users sharing their opinions on love, loyalty, and life decisions. One commenter wrote, “You followed her for love, she followed senior man for lunch,†mocking the irony of the situation.
Others advised the young man to move on and focus on his goals. “Make the guy focus on building his career abeg, that girl fit later get belle and drop out of school,†another wrote.
