Nigerian lady shocked as German professor leaves lecture room to help locate her class
A Nigerian lady studying in Germany has gone viral after sharing her shocking encounter with a professor who personally left her lecture to help her find her class, an experience she said could never happen in a Nigerian university.
In a video trending on TikTok by big sosap, the lady narrated how she got lost while trying to locate one of her new classrooms and decided to ask for help.
According to her, several students she met couldnât give directions until one advised her to approach a professor nearby.
âI said, Ask professor? I couldnât believe it. Because in Nigeria, you donât just walk up to a professor like that,â she said. âYouâll think twice before even knocking on their door.â
To her surprise, the female professor she approached didnât just give her directions, she left her students and personally walked with her around the building until they found the class.
âThis woman left her students and followed me around. I was like, so you people are human beings too? Nigerian professors and doctors, you people are not God o!â
She said the experience completely changed how she viewed lecturers.
To top it all off, the same professor later told her students not to call her Doctor or Professor, just her first name, Petra.
She added that the experience opened her eyes to how much fear and hierarchy dominate Nigeriaâs education system.
âI need to correct a lot of mentality I carried from Nigeria,â she said. âI need to start seeing people as human beings, not gods.â
Her story has since sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences and calling for a more humane, approachable academic culture back home.
