Tragedy struck in the Oke Aro area of Akure when a nursing mother reportedly died while breastfeeding her baby.

Eyewitnesses said the woman, a yam seller, had earlier greeted neighbours before suddenly complaining of weakness. She drank a bottle of Coca-Cola to regain strength but collapsed and died on the spot.

Some residents linked her death to possible malnutrition. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed her dead. Her husband, a commercial driver, was away at work when the incident occurred. Neighbours described her as calm and hardworking.
