The family of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has raised serious concerns following the release of her brother, Sammy West, on bail after spending days in detention.

The latest development comes amid ongoing tension between the actress and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, over allegations of domestic abuse.

Sammy West Regains Freedom After Days in Custody

After days of uncertainty, Regina Daniels’ brother, Samuel Daniels, popularly known as Sammy West, has finally regained his freedom on bail.

The news was confirmed by his elder brother, Lawrence Daniels, also known as Sweezy, who expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their support throughout the ordeal.

In a heartfelt message shared via Instagram, Sweezy wrote:

“Sammy, you’re a great man! Bail has been granted. Nigerians, thank you. From day one, I’ve said it, I believe you on this media space. None of your efforts are taken for granted. On behalf of the Daniels family, I say thank you. Thank God say man no be God.”

Family Accuses Ned Nwoko of Influencing Arrest

Despite Sammy’s release, Lawrence claimed that the family’s troubles are far from over.

He alleged that Senator Ned Nwoko had influenced Sammy’s arrest and was still working behind the scenes to ensure his re-arrest.

According to Sweezy, Ned allegedly used his influence to involve the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the case, a move he described as “unlawful and vindictive.”

He said:

“Ned has also paid NDLEA to have Sammy picked up into their custody. But a magistrate court does not have jurisdiction over drug-related cases, only a federal high court.”

Legal Concerns Over NDLEA Involvement

Lawrence argued that transferring the matter to the NDLEA violated legal procedures, as the Magistrate Court handling the initial proceedings lacks jurisdiction over drug-related offences.

He insisted that such matters should be handled only by a Federal High Court, raising fears that the move was part of a larger plot to silence his brother.
