Sidechic ordered to pay N2.5bn to wife for ‘snatching’ her husband
A woman, Akira Montague, has won a massive N2.5 billion judgment against her husband’s side chic after dragging her to court over claims of destroying her marriage.
A North Carolina woman, Akira Montague, headed to court after her marriage collapsed.
She accused her husband’s lover, Brenay Kennard, of deliberately destroying her home and using flirtatious tactics to lure her husband away.
The court ruled in Akira’s favour and ordered Brenay to pay $1.75 million (about N2.5 billion) for her role in the breakup.
This judgment was granted under North Carolina’s alienation of affection law â€" a law that allows a spouse to sue anyone they believe contributed to the failure of their marriage.
Akira’s husband, Tim Montague, has since divorced her and married Brenay, who is known online as a popular TikTok influencer.
Akira told the court that Brenay’s involvement caused her family to fall apart, leaving her alone with their two children.
Reacting in a video shared on TikTok, Brenay insisted she owes Akira nothing.
She argued that by the time she started seeing Tim, his marriage was already over.
According to her, Akira even admitted the relationship had crashed long before the affair.
Her words: “She said it was okay because she knew her marriage was over with, and it was done.â€
Despite the heavy judgment, Brenay expressed doubt that Akira will ever get the money.
She described the ruling as unfair and maintained that she did nothing wrong.
